Berlin

We will visit Berlin around Septembre 18, 2014, for 3-4 days.

We enjoy great food, wine, nice and romantic hotel with personal attention (ie. not the Hilton/Four season; but more places likfe Relais Chateau), museum, art, walking around....

What are your recommendations for this 3-4 days trip in regard to the hotel, sightseeing, schedule, restaurants, etc ?

Thanks in advance for your tips and suggestions!

If you have no knowledge of Berlin at all or even no idea of where to start, I would suggest to do a walking tour from either:

Original Berlin Tours (berlinwalks.de/public/…Discover)

berlinwalks.de/public/…mainsights

or

Insider Tours (insidertour.com/tours.php/cat/27/id/40/title…)

have a look through the 'things to do' link in the green bar at the top - make your 'must see' list and post it here - that way regular posters have something to work from - they are particularly good at helping you group things together geographically

you should also check out www.berlin.de

use forum search for "romantic hotel", I think it has come up in the past.

3 to 4 days isn't very long for Berlin, and doing a walking tour is definitely a good way to get started. Beyond that it depends what your interests are, Berlin has pretty much something for everyone in terms of sightseeing.

Potsdam is a rather more romantic place than Berlin and is an easy day-trip, but that leaves even less time for Berlin then.

For a hotel have a look at Das Stue or the Schlosshotel im Gruenwald, the first is much more central though

I am thinking :

First day in Potsdam.

Second day for the reichtag and other sight around that theme.

Third day for museum and art gallery. And a walking visit.

I also wish to see a concert such as the Berlin philarmonic but it seems sold out or just very bad seats are left....

If you plan on a visit to the Reichstag and its dome, make sure you book a guided tour ahead of time

With a September 18-21 or 22 date it may be difficult to get it now.

I think Jordan means that these dates are pretty soon, they are not special per se.

I'd have thought doing the walking tour the first day would help you get your bearings. And give you an outline of Berlin's history
