Concert / Shows for English speakers

Hi all

We are looking at seeing a show/ concert when we stay in Berlin December - would have to be on either the 9th or 10th .Has anyone seen the Blue Man group and if so could you advise whether we need to have a good understanding of spoken german to appreciate it ? Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

You can watch the Blue Man Group whatever language you speak or understand. It's been a while since I've seen this show but I think they hardly was any talking really.

You could check out the programmes of Bar jeder Vernunft, Wintergarten Variete and Tipi. For some shows you do not speak or understand German.

What do I think of the Blue Man Group? Not 100% sure really. It was o.k., some parts of their show I really liked, others were o.k. and some I didn't like at all. I personally found the ticket price to high for what was offered. Anyway, that is my personal opinion. For exampale a friend of mine absolutely loved it.

Since the Blue Men won't speak a word there is a digital display in the back of the stage (German only when I went there a year ago) where they show several phrases to which the Blue Men react. You probably will not get the reason why everybody is laughing but this is only a small part of the show. I thought it was an above average show - ticket prices are fairly high but I got 50% off tickets from one of the Berlin infostores for the same day performance.

Adresses of infostores to be found here:

Other shows:

-> Umoja - The Drums And Soul Of Africa (2 yrs in Westend London) Location: Admiralspalast just outside Friedrichstrasse Station

-> Stars in Concert in Estrel Hotel in Neukölln district (not that central)

www.estrel.com -> Estrel Entertainment -> All Shows (Trailer to watch)

-> Rio - the Voice of Elvis & Band: Elvis Christmas Special

Location: Tempodrom

Some of the websites are only in German.

For some events it can be a good idea to buy ticket in advance (it's a weekend).
