Gig listings and interesting bars / restuarants!

I'm off to Berlin in March and I'm trying to find out if there are any good indie/rock concerts on while we're there. Does anyone know of a website that lists gig in Berlin?

I'd also like to hear if anyone has any recommendations for nice, relaxed, old-fashioned or unusual bars, and good places to eat vegetarian food!

We're staying in the Schoenhouse Apartments so particularly anything round there would be good.

Many thanks!

the location of the Schoenhouse apartment is really excellent! It's just on the edge of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. It's perfect for sightseeing and nightlife... The Hackescher Markt is in walking distance. It is a popular area for going out. There you find numerous restaurants and bars (and shops) but it is expensive and overcrowded with tourists. That's why I always recommend Prenzlauer Berg. The atmosphere is more relaxed and the restaurants and bars are less expensive. The Kollwitzplatz and the Kastanienallee are good starting points for a night out in Berlin. Both places are in walking distance from your apartment.

There will definitely be good indie/rock concerts in Berlin while you're here... but it's a little early to know where/which. When your trip comes closer you could check:

http://www.exberliner.com/ - (in english)

Things you should not miss....all of them are close to your apartment and not touristy:

# Magnet Club, Greifswalder Strasse 212-213, 10405 Berlin: Stylish club in Prenzlauer Berg. Almost everyday concerts and parties, mainly indie rock/pop, brit pop etc. http://www.magnet-club.de

# Bastar*d@Prater, Kastanienallee 7-9, 10435 Berlin: A small but hip club at the top of Kastanienallee (near subway station "Eberswalder Str.").#

# Pfefferbank, Schoenhauser Allee 176, 10119 Berlin: A great little club just next to the Pfefferberg (subway station "Senefelder Platz"). http://www.pfefferbank.de

*some nice bars more or less in walking distance:

Santiago Bar (http://www.santiago-bar.de)

8mmBar (http://www.8mmbar.com)

Rote Lotte (Oderberger Straße 38, 10435 Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg)

Kollwitzstraße 55

Cafe & Bar Manolo, Schönhauser Allee 45

You find a little review there:

*my favourite flea market is:

Flohmarkt am Mauerpark (every sunday).

My favourite flea market is the "Flohmarkt am Mauerpark". This one's not too far from your apartment. Just a 20 minute walk or a short subway trip to station "Eberswalder Str." from there it's just a short walk. Here you find some pictures:

You find many more on flickr.com (just do a search for Flohmarkt Mauerpark).

*and finally my favourite restaurants...:

german cuisine:

Cafe K. Froehlich, Belforterstr. 22, 10405 Berlin.

Bar Aragon, Diedenhofer Str. 6....just a Tapas bar but great food, great atmosphere and fair prices.

My favourite italian restaurant:

Cenacolo, Sredzkistraße 23....look here for more infos: schlemmerinfo.de/eng/…index.html

If you like Sushi/Korean food you should try the Reiskugel, Kollwitzstr. 74. Look here: http://www.reiskugel.com

Have fun & let me know if you've any more questions!

As solid8 already mentioned it is way to early to find out about gigs in March.

You could also check out http://www.berlinonline.de/tip/

I quite like the frannz club for smaller concerts, you could check out their programme on http://www.frannz.de/
