It would probably work out cheaper to take the train to France and then rent your car there to avoid costly international drop off charges. If you purchase your tickets early enough (earliest 89 days before travel) you can get one of the limited 29€ special offers by train to Paris. www.bahn.de and then change to English.

The best way is to avoid the international drop off fees as they tend to be really high.

You dunno want to use a car in Paris - or?

Either

a) just use the trains

b) use the trains in one country and rent in the other

c) drop off the car close to the border and rent again behind the border. Most easy with 2 drivers.

Good "pairs" of places to do this

One way fees tend to be an extra $350+ where crossing borders is involved. If that does not matter to you then any of the major companies Hertz,Avis etc will do it. Just choose the drop off at other location and put in where is best for you.

Bewarned, driving in Paris can be a bit alarming
