Train ticket price from Cologne to Amsterdam

Hi,

I and two of my friend will arrive at Frankfurt and travel in Frankfurt and Heidelberg then want to go to Cologne and travel around there 2 days before go to Amsterdam.

Please advise for cheapest ticket price to travel from Frankfurt to Cologne on weekday/weekday for 3 persons.

How much different price between normal price and advance train ticket from Cologne to Amsterdam?

If it's not much different, I want to buy the ticket at the machine before travel 1-2 days.

Please advise.

Thanks a lot,

regional trains - select at the DB timetable "only local transport" to get only connections by regional trains.

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

Start: Frankfurt(Main) Hbf

Destination: Köln Hbf

Start: Köln Hbf

Destination: Amsterdam Centraal

But keep for this the default value "All" for the means of transport.

There is quite some difference if you buy well in advance (earliest 92 days in advance). If you buy 1-2 days or 5 minutes before departure plays no role. In either case you can only buy standard fare tickets.

If you buy a ticket for the Cologne to Amsterdam journey check in advance both the DB website and the Dutch equivalent - NS Hispeed. After always using DB for booking the ticket for that journey in advanced I realised that tickets are ocassionally cheaper using the Dutch railway site - saved €10 per trip, and the price includes seat reservation.

You can print the ticket at home, just bring a form of ID along.

The website is

www.nshispeed.nl/en

Worth a shot, as you can book tickets from €19.

Hi All,

Thanks a lot for suggestion.

For Dutch railway, it is €19 one way from Cologne with hi-speed(ICE).

Is normal train cheaper than €19 for advance booking?

Does the train start from Cologne HAUPTBAHNHOF to Amsterdam?

Thanks and Regards,

I think 19 Euro is a good price and you won´t get it cheaper for a normal train. Beside this it would take a much longer time. To be sure you can check DB as well.

Yes, the train starts from Cologne Hauptbahnhof.

Hi,

I try to check in nshispeed link but can't see seat reservation for 2nd class.

Does this train have seat reservation when booking?

Many thanks,

I booked twice with them now (last Christmas and for next month), and I always got a seat resevered straight away. You don't have to pay for it, and you cannot select it...but it will be shown on your ticket when printing it.

Yes, that´s the difference if you book via DB, there you have to pay for seat reservation.

Thanks for the hint, scotsman, the next time I will compare both options:-)).

But I´m not sure if I will get the same discount tickets like at DB (with Bahn Card 25), so I have to sort it out.
