Luxenbourge and trier in a day

We are staying in Cochem and have a car. Was thinking of going by train to Luxenbourge, doing the hop on/off bus in morning, taking train back to Trier for afternoon and evening, then back to Cochem. Is all that do able in a day?

Quite a lot for one day - but doable.

A one day return ticket from Cochem to Luxembourg is EUR 28,00. Covered are RB, RE and IC trains. Stopover in Trier is possible.

You can buy this ticket from the ticket machines or for EUR 2,00 more also at the counter.

I agree, it is doable. Perhaps do Luxembourg in the morning, shops open at about 10am and close at 6pm. Then do Trier in the afternoon. Why do you not take your car to Luxembourg though, park at the public parking lot "Glacis" and walk downtown? Parking for 4 hours costs about EUR 5.
