One day in Dresden, what to do

Hello everyone!

My family and I are going to visit Dresden and we will stay there for one day. We will be staying at the "Hotel NH Dresden" and I would like to know what are the most important/beautiful sights of the city. We will have to move around with the public means of transport, therefore, there is a limit to the region that we can explore. Please let me also know what to eat and approximately how much we should expect to pay for a meal. We come from South Europe, so we will need to know what kind of clothes we should be wearing. Thank you in advance.

Which one? There seems to be 2 of them - one walking distance from the Old Town, one not.

First of all, all the major sites in Dresden are concentrated around the Frauenkirch area in the Old Town.

IMHO, the primary 'must-see' is the Grunes Gewolbe (Green Vault) for which tickets should be bought in advance (can be easily done on-line). Next is the Zwinger complex. Also the Opera House, the "Procession of the Princes" mural.

If public transport is necessary, you shouldn't have any problems getting to the Old Town.
