Parador de Alcaniz - worth a stopover?

We were thinking of stopping overnight at the Parador de Alcaniz, when driving from Madrid to Barcelona in mid May. Could anyone comment on this option, or would we be better staying overnight at say Zaragosa. I guess what I am asking, is the detour to the Parador, from the direct route to Barcelona, worth it?? any suggestions would be appreciated. LS

Alcañiz la Concordia is an interesting Parador, a castle/convent of the order of Calatrava. It's a little out of the way, but if you are driving, then you should enjoy the diversion. Besides, they have an excellent chef in Gerardo Arobes Gutiérrez.

The Parador is a 3-flower selection of Inns of Spain (http://www.paradors.net/hotelview.aspx?h=6004)
