Is drinking the tap water in Spain safe?

hIn general, yes, but I would recommend using bottled water if you are a tourist. There may be different chemical and/or bacteria to the water you are used to which may cause tummy upsets.

I have never been careful with the water in Spain as I would be in Mexico. Definitely safe although most locals drink bottled water. I drink whatever is served and never get sick.

Yes it's safe, but it may taste you different or bad, depending on the areas.

Coastal areas tend to have worse water and people prefer to drink bottled water.

In Madrid tap water is excellent.
