What are the safer areas of Madrid for female travelers. Want to be near most of the sites, cafes, markets? Would like most sites in walking distance

I always stay at the Salamanca Barrio because it is the safest. You can walk at night and feel completely safe. No prostitution is allowed. This is where the rich people live. There are many good restaurants like Restaurante Jose Luis at Calle Serrano, 89. Calle Serrano is the 5th Avenue of Madrid. It is not far from downtown Madrid (Gran Via) and there is metro to go between places. I usually walk to the Prado and Retiro Park, as well as the Thyssen Museum.

Despite the absurd insistence by Benny, there are lots of posts on the forum in Madrid denying that this is the most suitable area for visitors. Look for "Santa Ana" in the Madrid forum.
