I used atesa for 7 days recently in Spain and had zero trouble.

We.drove from Seville to Barcelona, took a diesel result magane, very fuel efficient, comfortable, fast.

Used my Australian drivers license no need.for an international.

I didn't take the extra insurance when i picked up the car as i already purchased it and they had no problem with it.

Go for it, the roads are great in Spain and you have much more freedom.
