Casablanca to Barcelona - best travel advice

Hi all

Im going to be travelling from Casablanca to Barcelona next month and was looking at alternatives to flying.

Direct flights are around £130 and I wouldnt want to spend much more than that but I was looking for advice on getting the ferry to Spain and making my way north via a couple of cities.

Im 23 and female travelling solo. Ive heard you shouldnt travel alone in Morocco but this could be outdated advice.

Any itinerary tips would be most welcome!

You can get a ferry from Tanger to Tarifa or Algeciras, then make your way up through Cadiz province to Seville is one option. Look at Costa de la Luz forums for the area.

From Seville you could get the AVE, high-speed train to Madrid or all the way to Barcelona. Or you cd fly from Seville to BCN with vueling. Train is likely to be more expensive but check renfe.es

If next month includes Holy Week,(13th to 20th April) be aware that Andalucia will be very busy, accommodation in Seville very expenisve and flights and trains also expensive as it is a week when kids of off school and lots of people travel (It's a 4-day holiday weekend). In Catalonia Easter Monday, 21st is a holiday as well as Good Friday, the rest of Spain Thursday-Sunday

Casa is not a "tourist" destination whereas Marrakesh is and the Moroccan train is cheap so go to Marrakesh and take a Vueling flight to Barcelona if you find one cheap. Or stay in Marrakesh before leaving.

They used to capture slaves and sell them in the main square in Marrakesh but nowadays its mainly eats and henna painting and usual snake charmer types. It's quite an interesting place and far nicer as a tourist to go. You will like the souk.

If you take a train from Casa to Tangier it takes 5 hours or so : http://www.oncf.ma then the ferry will want your money then you may need a bus to perhaps Seville which is at least €20 then you need Seville to Barcelona etc etc. You will surely spend money. And time.

But if you want to see Seville / Cordoba / Granada then you need some days and planning.
