I had the privilege to stay at Parador Granada and Parador Carmona thinking that I will be staying in a castle. Yes they are in (or part of) a castle but the feeling was just not there. Thought could do some ghost-busting at night. They are too 'modern". Could have saved some money staying elsewhere. In fact there is Hotel America on the Alhambra palace grounds like the Parador, which is probably cheaper.
Parador Granada provided coffee/tea facilities. Breakfast was average for price we paid. Parador Carmona DOES NOT provide coffee/tea; neither was there a kettle in the room!
I believe the views must be beautiful in summer.
However, for the locals it may be a good splurge weekend retreat with the family.
