Good tour company for Day Trip to Morocco?

We will be near Almeria on August 25th and are wanting to take a ferry over to Morocco for the day. I have read that some of the tours can be rather "touristy" and take you around to carpet shops and whatnot hoping you will buy. While we understand there is no way to fully experience Morocco in a day, we were hoping for a more cultural, less touristy experience. Does anyone have a recomendation for a good company to use?

I can''t help feeling that getting to the usual tourist trip to Tangier from 'near Almeria' will be one long day trip. Just driving from Almeria to a port like Algeciras will take over 4 hours. getting a ferry from Almeria to North Africa may take 7 or 8 hours.

Why not go to Melilla instead? There are ferries from Almeria so you won't have to spend all day driving.

Melilla is a Spanish enclave on the Moroccan coast and a fascinating place in its own right, a real cultural melting pot. You would probably have to stop overnight though, whichever way you do it.
