a break on the drive from Portugal to Torre

We will be driving from Portimao to Torre. The via Michelin directions say it is about a 5 hr drive. Any ideas for a stop, and lunch break? After 2 and a half hours we will be close to Sevilla, but I'm wondering if it would take too long to get anywhere in Sevilla, and then get back on the highway to get to Torre before dark. The directions say that once in Spain, we take the A49 then the SE30 then the A92 (for 95 miles), then the A45/N331, etc.

We did a similar journey in May - from here at Vinuela to Tavira a good hours less journey than Portimao-Torremolinos. We had 1 x 20 minute stop and the journey took 5.25 hours. Going round Seville was a bottle neck - took nearly an hour - so I certainly wouldn´t suggest coming off the motorway there.

Just before you reach Seville there are several well signposted typically Spanish roadside bars/restaurants that served excellent lunches + drinks - sliproads direct from motorway. Suggest you try one of these. Having had a week in Portugal + not being able to find a decent cup of Coffee anywhere it was wonderful to stop at one of these bars and have our first rich roast brew - and great to be back in Spain!!!!!

Don´t forget that hotels in Spain and Portugal rarely provide In Room Tea + Coffee making facilities so, if you like a regular Cuppa, take a travel kettle with you.

Where are you staying in Torre? We visit there for a few nights every six weeks as only an hours drive from our home here at the lake.

Try Bonka - we opened a pack last week & it smells & tastes wonderful. There is nothing like Spanish coffee for us, strong & smooth.

If you go to a cafe, you can either order a cafe con leche - a larger cup with plenty of milk, usually a breakfast drink, a cortado - a small, strong coffee with a dash of milk, or a cafe solo - small espresso. All delicious & will taste better than anything you can make.

Santa Cristina Coffee is also very popular - especially with the Spanish.

They do it in either Percolator/Filter form or Instant. Don´t forget that, although some apartment accommodation provides kettles - although far from all with many relying on your boiling a pan of water hence my previous recommendation of taking a travel kettle - very few would provide a Coffee maker so a jar of Instant required.
