Which city is safer to stay in Marbella or Estepona?

We are planning a couple of nights in the area in order to take a guided tour of Gibralter. Which area do you think is safer and has better value hotels & restaurants - Marbella or Estepona?

Both are about the same, although Marbella has more fame and probably the hotels in Marbella are more expensive.

It depends what you are looking for. Estepona is a quiet place, But very nice. It has a lot of spanish bars and nice places to eat. It is also not too expensive.

While most locations in Spain, especially those catering to tourists, are very safe, I would recommend Estepona, as it is closer to Gibraltar and you will get more value for your money.

Marbella is great if you are interested in a Spanish version of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" or if you are looking for good nightlife. Estepona is much quieter. On a clear day, you can see the rock of Gibraltar from the beaches of Estepona.
