To answer Ian, the point of a MiFi is that in the absence of WiFi you can still go online, - i.e. on the beach, around town, in a rented apartment, villa or even in a hotel where there's a WiFi charge. You can of course use Data Roaming but this is very expensive and not generally recommended. A MiFi is also more secure than a publicly sourced WiFi connection, not uncrackable but very much more secure.
