Local Trains or Bus?

Any help on this one gratefully recd!

I need to get from the Airport to El Pinillo (staying in La Carihuella, not too far from the Marina) as this looks like the closest station.

I can't seem to locate the train operator details, fares, timetables?

Thx

Hi there

Are you staying in Carihuela or Montemar? They are next to each other but it will depend which station to recommend.

The timetable etc is here anyhow: www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/malaga/

There is a bus option as well ctmam.es/lineas/…648

This will be the best means by local transport to get to a destination by the marina

Fare 1.70€, leaves airport at 02, 22 & 42 past the hour. Slight variation after 22.00 and before 08.00. Station is just across the way from T3 exit. Ticket machines simple to use and can be converted to English by touching the Union jack on the first screen. They also give change up to 20€ notes.

Hi Bojangles, where are you staying?

Ian, I know the bus is excellent if you're a morning arrival but otherwise it's a bit rubbish! Not frequent enough.

Mantalk, the fare is now €1.75, and ideal way of getting rid of those pesky 5c coins (although the machines spit them back out if you put in fore than five).

Ah, so you're up in El Pinillo itself.

Here's a walky-map, although Google refuses to accept you can walk straight down through the park, which would probably be quicker (although getting across that road there is a bit hairy) :

Note: you are much nearer El Pinillo station than the airport bus route (the buses go along Avda Carlota down below).

Any questions just fire away.

Thx for the walking map, & links to Renfe.

I can see by other forum threads that's the Renfe site is problematic!

So far using the ipad I can't get it to list the timetables!

Trains from the airport are every 20 mins, at 02, 22 and 42 mins past the hour, journey time to El Pinillo 15 mins. The trains are very efficient and easy to use, both stations are luggage-friendly, tickets from the touch-screen machines at Aeropuerto station.

The RENFE Cercanias system is very good. You cannot find any information on other web sites like LOCO2 . Trains are clean and spacious. And for €1.75 for the ticket from airport to El Pinillo is great value.

If the web is down then have a cup of tea or whatever and look later.
