Swimming in the sea πŸŠπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Me again 😬

Coming from the Isle of Wight and our relatively cold sea even in the summer, firstly what is the sea temp like end of May time? (Will be a huge shock after swimming in the Gulf of Mexico in September)

Also is the sea suitable/safe to swim in? I have been reading about sewage πŸ˜–

I notice that the Bajondillo end of Torre (where we are staying) hasn't got a blue flag status so I'm wondering if it would be worth visiting areas that do have blue flag status as we will be exploring anyway?

Has anyone got a particular beach that they recommend?

Someone posted the sea water info on here but I can't find it now.

I love the beach so this part of the holiday is a priority to me.

😊

The water will be rather chilly I'm afraid, but you can take solace from the fact that it will be clean in Torremolinos. It is rather cloudy but this is due to currents and upswell rather than anything nasty.

It's never particularly warm compared to, say, Valencia due to the way the Alboran Sea currents and upwelling work. That being said, as long as it's a warm day you'll usually find plenty of people in the sea. Bajondillo beach is fine for sea-bathing. There's a large screen by the beach near the Bajondillo apartments that shows current sea temperature, water quality etc. so you won't get any surprises!

Sea temperature end of May last year was 18 degrees, colder then normal as the weather very poor and rainky for the first two weeks of May.

Should be in to the early 20's hopefully if the weather sunny this month.

There were plenty of people in the sea by your aaprtments before easter, so no issues in this area

I'm with you I absolutely love swimming in the sea and at 18c I'll def be in it haha

If the weathers hot the sea will be lovely to cool off. Hot to me is anything above 24c haha much like you I'm used to the sea temps in U.K. Which by the way never stop me from swimming in come summer haha

I'll be there first week of June and hoping for the sun sea and swimming ☺️ x

Thanks everyone.....

Mariah - Its all good fun isn't it? So its a bit chilly πŸ˜¬β€‹ I'm not sure it could be much colder than here in the UK.

It was the water quality that I was more concerned about so glad to hear theres a screen with info on.

Exactly haha I like your thinking ☺️

I too was a little worried about water conditions after reading a post on here as we are more beach/sea people over pool people anyway 😊

Hope you have an awesome time x

Sea water is generally chilly around here, but nothing like English beaches. End of May is almost high season beach time, so you will love it.
