Plaza mayor

Is plaza mayor worth visiting? Is it easier taxi or train from Sol PrIncipe and how easy would it be to get from there to Malaga to see the city centre there and then get back to hotel again? Or would it be better to visit Malaga another day? Been to torremolinos 6 or 7 times and never been to either so looking for something new to do this year

Plaza Mayor is in Malaga but on the edge of Torremolinos. It has a Cercanias station but buses from your part don't go there so change at Torremolinos. Worthwhile? It has all the usual shops including a specialist Samsung one, there is a good go kart track and over the bridge is IKEA. A cinema which shows English films - check with Sur in English for which ones. There is some building work there at the moment as it is expanding considerably.

The restaurants are all 'chain' type but some are OK and some tapas bars are quite pleasant and a bit more adventurous than the resort ones.

To get to Malaga just hop on the train, takes about 15 minutes to either Maria Zambrano (best for a shopping day) or Alameda, best for sightseeing. Once you have tried Malaga you will be doing it a bit more often on your holidays here.

You can visit Plaza Mayor and Malaga city centre on the same day as they are both in the same direction from

Principe Sol. Although there is a local bus passes your hotel on the promenade side going to Plaza Mayor,it is an infrequent service. Best to take a taxi to Plaza Mayor. From there you can take the train to Malaga city centre.Return from Malaga by train to Plaza Mayor and pick up a taxi at the rank there back to your hotel.

The 123 bus service stops outside your hotel and stops at Plaza Mayor, worth a trip if your like shopping, but bowling, eating etc also on offer. You can always then catch the train to Malaga.

This 123 service in the other direction has its terminus at the windmill roundabout in Benalmadena, 800 yards from paloma park and the selwo marina, both worth a visit and you also pass the stop for Benalmadena marina, worth getting off to explore
