The reason why the last review is from '04 is that since then it has been completely demolished and rebuilt (not before time either, it really was a disgrace!).

So it should be all sparkly new and modern - it certainly took them a long time to do it and as its in such a prime location (for the Town rather than the beach) I would hope that they've done it to a high standard - the Ayuntamiento is very strict about the quality of new-build hotels/aprthotels these days so it should be fine.

As its now an aparthotel I wouldn't expect masses on on-site facilities, but you're only minutes from the restaurants and bars in the 'White Town' and not much further from everywhere else in the centre either.

Close to the sneaky route down to Carihuela beach and village too.

Hi Simmo,

I was looking for a review as well but couldn't find one. Obviously from what NoSoyGuiri says not many people have actually stayed there yet. Any chance you could let us know what you think of it when you get back please? It would be good to have an impartial opinion. Thanks very much and have a great holiday

Regards

Westy

It's easy from Torremolinos station, about 5 minutes walk. As you come out of the station you will find yourself in a pedestrianised square (Plaza Nogalera).

If you look across you will see a taxi-rank on Calle de Danza Invisible, opposite a pizza restaurant and near some banks. Go over to that and turn left. Follow Danza Invisible down to its end and turn right into Calle Skal (you will see a massive old tree on your left). Carry on along Skal and the StelPol is on your left.

As you come out of arrivals go straight ahead (rather than right for the cabs) and you'll see a lift up to Departures. Turn right out of Departures and follow the signs through the carpark to the bridge to the station.

It's an easy walk and luggage-friendly apart from the few steps up to the platform itself. The machines take change and (usually) €5/€10 notes. They are easy to understand (touch-screens) and there is an English option if you get confused.

DON'T get on the train without a ticket, the Penalty Fares are hefty.

<is it right on the seafront and how far is it to the main bars and restaurant areas.>

You'll probably have an uninterrupted seaview but the StelPol isn't on the seafront itself, it's up in Torrie Town which is 130 steps above the Paseo Maritímo. There is a lift nearby, I'm not sure whether it's available to StelPol visitors or not, there are also a couple of public lifts a bit further along near the Town Centre.

So no nipping back and forth to the beach!

There are various bar/restaurant areas in Torrie. Very close (across the road) you have lots of small bars of varying quality, some of them have very interesting traditional interiors as they have been around a long time; about 5 mins away is the 'White Town' which has a wide variety of restaurants.

Calle San Miguel (the main shopping street) is 5 mins along to the right; if you go left and across to the Castillo balcon there is a sneaky route down to the district of La Carihuela, which has hundreds of restaurants and great chiringuitos (beach café-bars) on the paseo itself and in the village behind.
