First timers - some questions

Staying at Sol Timor in a few weeks and had a few questions.

Where to shop (supermarkets/bakery)

Where to exchange US money and when are they open

We would like to see some sites - top suggestions

A few good places to eat that are reasonably priced

If you walk up to the main road ( 5 minutes) there are two large supermarkets one to the right one to the left.

Not sure whether a bakery in the Monte mar area where you are, but if you exit the hotel on to the paseo and turn left you are in 10 minutes walk in the Carihuela area, in this village you have bakeries, fruit and veg shops, every thing for your stay.

In addition this area is a major eating area, with great fish restaurants, tapas bars, beach bars etc, a choice of food for all. In this direction you will find restauarants, beach bars for another two miles.

If you exit the hotel on to the paseo and turn right, you will reach Benalmadena Marina in 5 minutes, again full of eating places, which carry on for around one mile along the front.

For day trips, Granada (alhambra), Ronda, Mijas, marbella Cordoba, Antequera, malaga etc are all within easy reach by public transport. Certainly the Alhambra, ronda, and Cordoba would be on my to visit list.

Not sure about money, nearest exchange is betica travel which if you exit the front of the hotel and turn right is 5 minutes walk away. Rubins exchange situated above the Marina is known for its good rates. I just assume they will take dollars.

To eat close to Sol Timor then The Carvery, Spanish Garden, Kate's Cottage, El Trillo, La Vina d'Ale are all excellent, plus there are several others nearby. For economy meals and snacks of good quality try the Fig and Olive.

All of these are very close by, reception staff can direct you if you cannot see them from the hotel entrance.

I would agree with Joxxer's recommendations and add Ciudad Sur Chinese restaurant which is directly opposite Timor Sol. As these restaurants are very popular you may need to book.
