Seville to Granada and Cordoba.

Last year we visited Andalucia. We spent four nights based in Seville and three in Benalmadena. As we had hired a car we got to see most of the area.

In March/April we are returning . We will spend one night in Seville then move on to Granada and Cordoba. One week in all. We will have to return to Seville at the end as our plane arrives and departs from there. We will once more be hiring a car.

Last year we were advised not to drive in Seville - what's the driving/parking situation like in Granada and Cordoba ?

Which should we visit first - Granada or Cordoba ?

Which towns do you recommend visiting while driving from town to town and as day trips ?

Many thanks

We just returned from both Granada and Seville and have stayed in Cordoba before. Don't even think about driving in any of these three locations. With all due respect you would be out of your mind to even try it!!! Public transporation and taxi's are readily available in all 3 locations. You'll enjoy your trip with MUCH less stress without attempting to drive. If for some reason you still feel compelled to do so then park your car outside of each city and take a different form of transportation in.

Could you spend a couple of nights in Cordoba (take the train from Sevilla), then rent a car and spend a couple of nights in Priego de Cordoba? The area around Priego is beautiful and would make for some great exploring. Then head to Granada for 2 nights dropping off the car on arrival. Then take the train or bus back to Sevilla for your return.

This way you'd not have hassle of the car in the cities and get to explore a beautiful area in between.

I recently went to Iznajar, which is a white town in the south of Cordoba province, near the border with Malaga province. This is a hidden gem by the biggest lake of Andalusia. It is a very beautiful white town and few tourist go there, so it is still in its virginal state. Try to see it.

Last year we took a hotel just outside Seville which was a few minuites away from the Metro. The Metro had a huge free parking area so it was all very easy to get into the centre.

One day we set our GPS to visit one of the white towns and for some reason the directions our GPS gave led us through the centre of Seville. It was indeed horrendous and we began to feel we'd never get out.
