Arriving and getting around:

Hi,

I'll be visiting Granada for a few days in mid-May. I've poked around this forum a little bit and found that there's an airport bus that goes from GRX to the city center in about 45 minutes...but I haven't found much other than that. Where is the bus station, immediately outside the airport? I haven't found a route number/name, so is this bus just the airport bus? (I was wondering so I now that signs/numbers to look out for). Lastly, if my hostel is across from the Alhambra (near Casa de Castril), which bus stop should I get off at?

Please help! I'm directionally challenged and traveling alone...Thanks!

" Where is the bus station, immediately outside the airport? "

The airport at Granada is not used very much ad the transfer bus will be waiting outside for taking passengers into the city. You will need to alight at the last stop along Gran Via which is the closest to the Cathedral (or Catedral in Spanish !).

From here you need to walk to Plaza Nueva and then continue walking along the River Darro valley using the obvious route Carrera del Darro until you reach your hostel. Probably a 15 minutes walk.

I would recommend that you look at Google Maps and plot your walk?

Directions are

Calle Gran Vía de Colón, 43, 18001 Granada, Spain

to

Casa de Castril, Carrera del Darro, 41, 18010 Granada, Spain

The bus station mentioned in 1 above is the main city bus station where you can take long distant buses to places like Malaga , Cordoba, Seville etc.

Get off the bus at the cathedral.

Walk to Plaza Nueva

At the end of Plaza Nueva

Follow the river until you get to the accom.

The accom is along the river somewhere

If you get a taxi they will charge you the minimum fare which is about 4.50.

Look at this page for a pic of Plaza Nueva

Go to the end and the river starts just to the left of the church

To see a picture of the bus stopping outside the cathedral click here

What do you mean the airport at Granada is not used very much? Should we rent a car instead of trying to get the bus? Is parking difficult downtown? Is it easier to get taxi instead
