From Port to tourist Gijon - accessible taxis?

My partner, his elderly mother and myself are stopping over in Gijon as part of a cruise. Will we be able to get a taxi to take him in his electric wheelchair and the rest of us to be able to spend a good few hours looking around Gijon before re boarding. Any suggestions what places of interest will be accessible? Thanks

You will need to book through a company that runs one of the 4 Euro Taxi vehicles running in Gijon .... the companies that operate these are:

- www.taxivillajovellanos.com/eurotaxi.htm and their other site at http://www.taxi24horasgijon.com

I am told that Taxi Villa Jovellanos speaks English ...... to what extent or if true, I know not.

The Museo del Ferrocarril de Asturias is accessable and has lifts - ask at reception for the lift locations.

You can also visit the Roman Baths but the walkway is broken by a short 2M up-down step ...... not a problem because you can take the short trip back and follow the circular path in the opposite direction.
