Staying in or near Oviedo

I will be spending 3 days in or near Oviedo, we will have a rental car. I've read that staying in a city with a car is expensive as parking can cost 12 euro a night and many places don't provide parking (we won't be staying anywhere expensive), also driving in a city you don't know can be difficult.

Would it be best to stay somewhere on the outlying part of the city or somewhere closeby from which we can take a bus in? Does anyone have anywhere to suggest? We prefer to stay in small B & B's rather than hotels..

I would bite the bullet and look for a central hotel with parking.

I would stay in the centre but if you want to stay just outside then ....

Casa Camilla -> http://www.casacamila.com/en/hotel.php and you can catch a bus into Oviedo line L9 from the bus stop named Fitoria (last bus back at 10pm) ... see here for time tables -> www.consorcioasturias.com/es/portal.do…

Palacio de la Vinona -> http://www.palaciovinona.com and you can look at the bus times (as above) leaving from the bus stop named Colloto (Inglesia de).
