Biarritz in November

Is the day trip up to this city worth it during this time of the year? Or are we better off just hang out in the Basque country?

We visited a friend in Biarritz in February, not the same time of year obviously, but definately out of season. The town was still fully functional, but it did have the air of an out of season tourist town, especially down by the beaches. However, that is sometimes the best time to visit, there was still good nightlife, and the beaches were still beautiful, and the surf, if that's what you're after, is probably better and obviously less crowded. We have often nipped across the border to St Jean de Luz and Cibourne for out of season day trips, I personally prefer them to Biarritz, smaller, great beaches too, and lovely restaurants and shops. Also mainly tourist based, but a lovely wander round, and closer to the border for a day trip (if you're driving it's literally only 10 minutes until you're parked in Cibourne - easier parking and you can walk to St Jean from there). What you certainly can expect to find in all these places out of season is lots of shut tourist shops and beach restaurants and bars, just like any other seaside town I suppose.
