Climate in Victoria and activities for family

We are considering a house swap to this area and would like to know what to expect weather wise in July/Aug given we normally spend our holidays in SE France at this time of year. Any advice on entertaining 4 children in the area much needed too - we normally like spending time swimming in rivers/lakes and and having picnics. Any advice much appreciated.

well, if you are used to SE France, expect more or less the same weather.

On regard entertaining your children there are several things to do:

- In the lake of Ullibarri-Ganboa you can get a bath (specially in the area of Garayo). You have there small boats and bicycles to rent there to make a tour around.

- Near Garayo there is a bird park as well nice to see for children.

- You can also visit the park of Salburua and enjoy seeing the deers there.

- There are a lot of picnic areas around that lake and in many parts of the province. You can check as well these nice places for picnic: Legutio and Estibaliz

- For a different experience, you can go to the Botanical Garden of Santa Catalina or see any of the Medieval Castles (towers) in the province.

- And of course, if you can take advantage of the Festivals of the city:

25th July with the running of the donkeys and other features.

And La Blanca festivals, with circus, fireworks, and a lot of things for children entertainment. The festival starts in the evening of 4th August and ends on the night of the 9th August. This is really something not to miss if you can adjust to your plans.

Hope that you enjoy Alava!
