First time visit - need help

I am looking to visit Ibiza this May with my husband and 4yr old daughter. We usually like low level self catering apartments with swimming pool and splash pool for kids as well as a playground. A kids club would be great too. Set in nice grounds if possibe. Ideally near a good sandy shallow beach and walking distance to resort centre. We like low key traditional towns with charm and local food. Any ideas for resort and/or accomadation? Does not have to be fancy - just good facilities and clean.

ibiza's charming traditional towns with local food have remained that way as they haven't been overrun by the package tour masses. you won't find a single tourist apartment block in san jose, san miguel, santa gertrudis, san carlos et al.

the resorts are a different matter entirely, they're almost all purpose built from nothing along the coastline and cater for mass tourism. you'll find more kids' clubs than you can shake a stick at in es cana, portinatx, puerto san miguel, es cana and the like, but you'll be stuck for choice if you're after whitewashed houses, little old ladies and sofrit pages in them.

you'll need to compromise or travel.

MM is right - you can't really combine those two things.

es cana & cala llonga are decent family resorts, but you will definitely need to get in a car and explore to find some local culture.

santa eulalia has the added bonus of a proper town centre as it's a year round working town as well as package holiday destination. you will find a decent selection of local cuisine and there is a direct regular bus service to ibiza town too.

the really quaint places are the inland villages that MM mentioned - san carlos, san jose, san juan etc. which are well worth a visit on a day trip....

there is also the option of puerto san miguel - a few package holiday places there and it's close to san miguel village and benirras beach..

good luck choosing!

Hi,

These apartments should suit your needs.

Ask for an apartment in the Torremar complex overlooking the fields that belong to a local farmer who you can view working on his fields from your balcony.

Using the booking sites you can pick up an apartment there for as little as €30 per night
