Beach hotel and town in Majorca

Hi Everyone...

We're looking to book the 1st week on July in Majorca. We usually have pretty active holidays but this time we just want to chill for a week.

Looking for a 4*+ hotel with a nice pool and ideally some gardens with loungers etc. Would really like the hotel to be on the beach so that we can have a swim in the evening without hassle. Wife not a brilliant swimmer so would like gently sloping beach, not too many stones or seaweed.Nothing against kids but just don't want too many round the pool when we're relaxing. Rooms should be bright and airy. Sea view would be a bonus.

Would like the town to have plenty of places to wander out for food and drink in the evening. Really liked Port Soller and looking for something similar but open to ideas.

Happy to do package or independent.

Appreciate any input

If you liked Puerto Soller then I would suggest Puerto Pollensa would be ideal . Plenty of good hotels , Hotel Miramar , Hotel Uyal , Hotel Daina spring to mind .

Kevintherunner has got every word 'spot on'; and to his list for consideration I would add Hotel Sis Pins (no pools but the beach and sea are just a few yards away; and they've certainly got a 5* cafe-bar)

Thanks to both of you so far.

Yes, Vanity Golf Hotel looks ideal, modern, airy with a nice sized garden and pool. Not sure about Alcudia.

Yes, Puerta Pollenca is a an ideal town for us. There appears to be only one hotel on the beach with a garden area but it looks quite old fashioned inside, dated rather than Mallorcan. REALLY expensive too especially for a sea view. There are some hotels listed a Puerta Pollencia but they're too far to walk to the centre.

Shame the Vanity Golf Hotel isn't in Puerta Pollenca!

If you're willing to push the boat out a bit I recommend a mini-suite with sea view at Hotel Uyal in Pto Pollensa. Not actually on the beach but the biggest easy beach is right across the road, literally. Had one of these mini-suites in May 2013.Separate lounge, 2 TVs,recently re-modelled and updated en-suites with good power shower (over bath). The annexe rooms have separate showers. Outdoor swimming pool in the gardens tree-shaded with sunbeds. Not really a suitable hotel for children as it doesn't cater for them therefore hardly any around. No need to go HB as so many dining options nearby.

Thanks for that. Yes that looks good. The only reason we'd discounted this hotel is that we the garden/area surrounding the pool looked quite small. My wife loves the warm but can't spend too long in the sun. Maybe a bit limited for shady space here 1st week of July? Also is the road by the pool busy/noisy?

The shade around the pool is the positive for you.Too much shade from the well established trees in the garden for some people (same applies to the goldfish bowl size pool at Hotel Illa d'Or).The sunlounger space around the pool is a negative. Sometimes compromises are necessary. You can hire 2 sunbeds and a parasol for 11 euros a day on the beach if it is too crowded for you around the Uyal pool.
