Have a look at the Tryp Bellver, it's on the seafront with great views over the bay. Palma is relatively compact and walkable. The old town is not too far from the Bellver about a 20-30 minute stroll.

Most of the hotels in the old town don't have pools or if they do only very small ones.

Go to "Ca'n Joan de S'Aigo" for an ice-cream (my favorite is the strawberry, but the almond one is great!). It is close to the cathedral.

I'm liking your style, original poster asked for suggestions where to stay in Palma and you suggest an icecream parlour, sorry, lol that really tickled my sense of humour.

Have a look at the hotel San Lorenzo. It's in the heart of the old town with some great restaurants nearby , very atmospheric with a small pool which catches the sun.

The Saratoga might be worth a look, just a stroll from the old town, has a pool.
