Cruise port to beach

We will be in Mallorca from 1-8 PM in August. I read about Mondrago Beach. Is that doable from the port on our own? If not, is there an equivalent beach nearby?

Cala Mondrago is easy to access.

Correction:it is not easy access from the Cruise Port in Palma especially with effectively only half a day in port. It would take just over an hour each way by taxi and the fare would be over 80 euros each way.If you want a decent sandy beach that is easily reached by direct public bus in ten minutes from the port then Cala Major is it.Though it is not in the same picturesque league as Cala Mondrago.

Oh I don't know if Cala Major is the answer. It's not all that great and getting to the beach isn't all that apparent. But a few minutes past Cala Major is Illetas, which has a very beach and decent food & drink, but getting there is also not obvious.

Probably better is Portixol or Cuidad Jardin. Either are about 10 minutes by taxi (depending on traffic along Paseo Maritimo). Taxi will pull you right up to the beach.

Venture about 10 minutes further and end up at Can Pastilla, which at least has a lot of bars & food.

5 minutes further from Can Pastilla is Playa de Palma, where there's no end to bars and food. But then, you may end up losing track of time :-)

old post, I have the same question. In June we are coming off an MSC cruise ship at 2pm but don't have to be back on the boat until Midnight. (although we would like to be back on the boat by 8pm) We are traveling with 4 children (range 13-7)and would like to get to the beach via public transportation. (cheap) Which beach would make everyone happy? I don't want to be on a bus for longer then 30 minutes, max 45 min. with small children. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Would have been better to start a new thread.

The best beach nearby is at Cuitat Jardi, just to the east of Palma. Nice wide beach and plenty of eateries.

To get to Cuitat Jardi beach by public transport, would we need to go into the city centre first or is there a direct bus service from the port? Thanks
