Cala Galdana Food and general information.

Me and my partner (17 + 19) are flighing out to minorca on the 27th of June. Its the first time we've travelled abroad on our own.

We've booked the Alta Galdana Apartments, Cala Galdaba and are wondering what sort of food the restraunts in the area serve as were both quite fussy. Do any of the restraunts serve english style foods?

Hi,Yes you wont have any prob. There is usually a mixture of meals on the menu and most do fries, salad, burgers.fish, chops and pizza alongside seafoods, paellas, mussels etc. There wont be any language prob as everyone speaks english and the menus are written in spanish, english and german and the waiters speak all 3...puts us to shame.Cala galdana is a lovely resort and the beach is a horseshoe of lovely sand and crystal blue water. There are pedaloes for hire. There is a choice of restaurants and you can use the hotels for evening entertainment, you will just pay a little extra for drinks but just go in and sit down,if the weather is nice which I'm sure it will be the big hotel galdana has its entertainment outside so you cant miss it.Minorca is welcoming and not rowdy at all.Hope you dont want anything too exciting by way of night life.Any other help just ask!!xxLesley.

Good choice with Galdana Bondi. You may already know that Menorca is famous for it's beaches and you've got a great one where you're staying. If you fancy a change of scene though (and since you're not going to have the option of hiring a car due to age) there's a couple of the untouched coves you could walk to.

I'd recomend a stroll to Cala Macarella one morning. Find the path behind the Hotel Audax next to the foot bridge that takes you to the beach and follow it for about 40 mins. You'll drop down a set of steps on to a fantastic unspoilt cove with a good sized sandy beach and pine trees behind. There's also a smallish beach bar there where you can grab a beer or a bite of lunch so no need to take food and drink with you.

Glad you've realised that Menorca's a quiet sort of place - but if you do fancy blowing some money on a cab for a good night out clubbing there's only one to go for: head to Cal'n porter and the Coves d'en Xoroi. 2nd half of this vid:

And their site:

Have fun and let us know if you need any more info.

We have young people with us who will want to go to the nightclub - any idea how much a taxi will cost between Cala Galdana and Xoroi? We're not hiring cars so they will be under their own steam!

Thanks

Edie - latest info on Taxi prices I have is that Galdana to Airport is 34 EUR each way. The caves are slightly nearer (or slightly further depending on route taken) so that's a guide price only. 70 EUR return may seem a bit costly but if there's 3 or 4 of them that's not bad per head.

FYI the "foam party" always used to be on a thursday.

About the food nothing to say, only that the food in menorca is superb and you will love it. About Cala Galdana, i've been there last week and the beach that as a nice view was full of garbage, plastic, paper, etc.

Try to choose another beaches is the area. Cala Macarella or cala Macarella is near and ok.
