is punta prima for us??

Please help me!! The more I look the more confused I am getting.

Were are a couple in our 30's with a 5 yr old daughter.

We are looking at barcelo pueblo in punta prima???

We normally book everything seperately (Owners direct) but are now thinking with a 5yr old...entertainment, making friends etc that booking here maybe the answer. We just dont want a butlins type of holiday.

To give you a rough idea of where weve been and what we like...puerto pollensa majorca is one of our favourites.

We like tavernas and somewhere to stroll in the evening and day. Good beach, NO 18-30 scenes!! We do not like anywhere too commercialised.

Any advice re punta prima or indeed any other recommendations and also the barcelo if anyones stayed there.

Cheers Guys, I really want to book tonight ....another early hour night searching this is unthinkable!!

You haven't said WHEN you are thinking of going - this will affect how busy or not the place is and therefore the replies and advice that you will get.

However, in the meantime, if your little girl is not used to the "Butlins Type holiday" you mention then a quieter resor t will be fine - when he was 5 my son ( now a teenager but who I thank God never wanted to drag us off to Disneyland Paris as a child) was only interested in swimmming pools, the beach, rock pools and playing crazy golf - all of which was available in abundance in the quiet resort of Santo Tomas -so from what you have implied you like and do as a family she really will be fine hanging out with other children in Punta Prima.

One of our DEs Raff lives on the island and has a little girl so she will be able to advise you - if she doesn't post up soon send her a private message

Hi Thnaks for replying!

The advice everyone gives is worth its weight in gold!

We are looking at the last week of August?

Our daughter would live in the pool if we let her, so thats all she really needs to keep her happy. Although my partner and I prefer the beach, my idea is that, if I am correct Barcelo pueblo is close to what looks like a gorgeous beach so we can do half a day at the beach and half at the pool and book Half board so it still gives us the flexability to eat out and take a stroll when we feel like it .

Are there places to sit for a glass of wine or two and watch the world go by around PP?

Many Thanks again

This hotel is a 3* so do not expect it to be mega luxurious ( but it looks good from the photos on barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/…Home and this would probably mean more families than in a 4* hotel which would mean more potential company for your daughter. The location ( see www.menorca-minorca.co.uk/prima_map.htm ) is only 300 m from the beach so yes, you are fine to do part day at the beach etc.

As your daughter is still quite young she may enjoy a trip to the islands only zoo - see tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g672809-i12730-k… -it is on the main Mao to Cuitadella road and used to offer discounted entry if you had a taxi receipt (but this may not apply to this season).

A hire car would be useful for sightseeing but will be expensive in August so you would probably be just as well using buses and the odd taxi. If you are interested there is a water taxi service operating out of Mahon ( see http://www.watertaximenorca.com/english.html) which you could use to go and see the fortress at La Mola ( see http://www.menorcatour.com/monumentos and http://www.fortalesalamola.com/) or a glass bottomed boat trip around the harbour at Mahon would also be a nice diversion for your daughter if combined with a trip to the capital which she may not be as enamoured with as the grown ups although she may like to pick out a pair of menorcan sandals ( called Varcas) while you are out shopping - they come in lots of any different colours and leathers and are very popular with little ones

My daughter is 5, she loves the kids pool at the barcelo hotel and would spend all day there if I let her. The beach is also one of her faves. There are 6/7 restaurants, in PP and they are all child friendly. I can't comment on the entertainment at the barcelo, as I have never stayed in the hotel. It was upgraded last year after an extensive refurb to a 4 star and has a really nice spa (adults only i'm afraid).

There is a road train that runs from PP to the nearby beach resort of Binibeca, which is also very much family friendly.

Hope this helps
