Recommended places to visit

Going to Son Parc last week in July, will be spending time on beach and round pool with kids but have booked a hire car for the week. Would like to get around the Island as much as possible. Question is which towns/places/sites would you recommend visiting ?

Answer depends.......

How old are the kids? plenty to see and do, depends on your interests. A little more info perhaps?

A Few starters:

Monte Toro for the views

Cova D'en Xoiroi - likewise

Fornells since you're so close, restos, harbour, good vibe

Mahon - museum, glass bottom boat trip, Gin, etc & also the mola - fortress

Cala Galdana for the beach

Son Bou likewise

Es Mercadal for the "real" menorca - unspoilt inland town (a good place to do your shopping too) - same goes for Alaior

I need more info on kid's ages and likes/dislikes before I can give you any more.

Thanks for prompt reply , daughters 16,15 and 3 Son aged 8. First trip to Menorca and wish to fit in as much as possible without feeling rushed. Very interested in Monte Toro and Es Murcadel but also want to see the real Menorca off the beaten track.

The real Menorca is mostly the coastline and countryside of which there is a lot around Son Parc. Es Mercadal ,Ferreries,Es Migjorn and Alaior are authentic and less touristic.

Monte Torre is pleasant enough-its really the views you go for unless you are interested in the church. Menorca is tiny and mostly in private hands so the roadnetwork is limited and does not go around the coastline(due to preservation/private ownership) so off the beaten track is only via car hire or vigorous cycling. Head for Es Alocs ( signed off ME-1 main road )
