Where to go with 4 young children, help!!

Hi all.

Advice needed please! We're wanting a two week holiday at the mid/end of June with our 4 young children aged 4.5, 3, 1.5 and 2 months. We normally go to the smaller Greek Islands but now because the two eldest are getting slightly older we are wanting something more focused for them.

I've been looking at Minorca which I know is a family island but the reviews are mixed on where to go, a nice beach, playground, kids pool would be ideal but we are not used to anywhere too busy or full of Brits!! Can anyone recommend a nice resort in Minorca or anywhere else?? Preferably looking for short flight.

Thank you so much.

...do you mean resort or hotel?, not very clear. Clearly any hotel that is in a UKtour operators catalogue is going to have more brits and generally these are the one's where people put reviews - id not pay too much attention to reviews until you find the resort first

I've not much experience of the smaller greek islands but you will find Menorca's resorts are not that commercialised , so it's always difficult to judge how it will be too quiet/too much.usually best for you to shortlist some for people to comment on based on what you think. I find that TA menorca resort reviews are 95% written by packaged hotel guests, so bear that in mind when judging a resort-often 'bad' resort reviews are from folks who did not research/booked on a price offer.

I'd look more closely at ( near to airport ) Punta Prima, Binibeca,Cala en Porter and Son Bou. Further afield look at Santo Tomas,Cala Galdana

First off have you looked at the "Top Question" section of this forum page ? If not, please do so as the first couple have info and links to other websites with lots of info about the island and various resort areas plus one gives an interactive route planner so you can see distances between places/airport etc.

After doing that if you come back to us saying which areas seem most attractive to you (as well as other things like whether you are travelling independently or looking for a package as some places are not listed in many UK brochures) hopefully people will make recommendations. If you want recommendations on accommodation please say that too

At the moment, given your stated preference for a location not too full of brits I would say avoid the large west coast ( esp north of Ciutadella) resorts as these tend to be the most "englishified" and have longest airport transfer times. Without knowing what research you have done I too would suggest Son Bou as a starting point but without a bit more info it is difficult to say a lot more. If you happen to like the look of Santo Tomas please feel free to send me a private message and I will give you my honest opinion on the options there.
