Porto de la cruz

We have been to costa adeje many times and are coming back at easter. We have never been up to the north of the island and have decided to go for a day up to de la cruz. what is the easiest way to get there and how long is the journey.

Hi, Puerto de la Cruz is a lovely old town dating back to the 1600s. There are some fine old buildings, churches and shady squares to sit and watch the work go by. It is the original tourist resort with the first visitors comming by 'banana boat'. When we arrive at the airport we always come up by bus, it takes about 1.5 hours. You could do the ame via Santa Cruz, (see the TITSA) web site. Its a nice journey and if you have not visited the north it is a nice way to see 'the green side'. You could of course hire a car, or perhaps take an excursion. But why not have a change from Adeje and stay. There is a lovely beach and award winning lido, plenty of shops including a new shopping mall with all the high street stores, and plenty of restaurents and stree side cafes.

I agree whole heartedly with what Rickybear says, it is a wonderful resort for a holiday and I also would highly reccomend a stay.If you do decide to go by car the easiest route is the TF1 towards Santa Cruz but take the turn off before you get there onto the TF5, that will take you into Puerto. See this map link for clear info

As you enter the boundary of Puerto de la Cruz, before you head downhill, on your right you'll see the L'Oro Parque, which is a wild life park.

Buses do go there direct but are always packed, with people standing. It is easier, though slower to change at Santa Cruz (take Directo buses). Get a Bono card at the Playa Americas bus station to save a lot of money.

It is a straight forward drive if you go by car but parking is not easy. You'll see the turn-off for Puerto Cruz before you reach Santa Cruz. A fair number of places shut around midday for two hours but many are still open.
