Advice for holiday in April

Hi, we are tinking of going on our honeymoon in April 2011 and are looking at going at the easter holidays..never been away at this time of year.

We would like some advice on Tenerife weather at this time of year if anybody has been at tis time of year?

and also..silly question i know, but being easter..will it be very very busy with families? we are going on honeymoon and so prob look at some couples hotels but its difficult to find these.

We usually wouldnt mind the busy periods but because its our honeymoon, want a peacefull time.

We are wanting to book soon, so any advice if appreciated.

Hi April is a lovely time of the year. Many of the long-term winter visitors will have left by then, and there is usually a quieter month befor the summer season. Tenerife is an island of eternal spring, perfect for a honeymoon. The weather will be very warm mid 20s, certainley warm enough to spend the days around the pool or on the beach. Tenerife is also an island of two contrast, the dryer 'desert-like' south and the greener lush north. Most of the tourist resorts are in the south, this is where you will find the water parks, boat trips and larger night clubs although I prefer the traditional town/resort of Puerto de la Cruz on the northern coast.

There is a good range of hotels throughout the island. Look through the various resort reports on this forum, and come back to us we can then give you some ideas on hotels.

april is a good time to go, weather is plenty hot enough with temps 75 to 80 for us still using "old money".

we went in april a few yrs ago and the temps were over 100 for two days while in the middle of a calima !!

you do get a few more school kids with the schools on holiday because of easter but no lager louts !!

enjoy your holiday .

Sorry to put a downer on this but we went llast year at Easter and the weather was cloudy every day. We did however stay further up in the mountains next to a mountain that seemed to have a constant black cloud over it! We also went at Easter 2008 and again, had cloudy days. HOWEVER, on the positive we went Easter 2007 and had an amazing week. Scorching hot every day so it can be temperamental at that time of year, certainly in our exepriences.

We have said we wont go again at Easter though as having experienced two bad weeks, it seems a waste of money to go here looking for sun. This year we went to Cyprus at Easter to try and get some sun there and guess what? The weather was terrible!!

We have been to Tenerife many times at Easter time and have found the weather to be very variable, particularly in recent years. Some years we sunbathed every day, and others it was cloudy cloudy; and on one occasion, it rained twice during our stay. It has always been warm though.

We have foound that it's possible to follow the sun by hiring a car; but that's not the most relaxing holiday. It may just be our luck, but we have found the weather in Los Cristianos and Los Gigantes better - which is a shame as we prefer the hotels and up-market atmosphere in Costa Adeje. Much of the weather seems to be governed by how close to the mountain you are - so stay clear.

Last year we were desperate for some sunshine after the awful winter, so did not want to risk it. We went to Lanzarote, and the weather was wonderful - but then again, it may have been wonderful in Tenerife too....

We've been every April for 3-4 years now and always had brilliant weather.
