Hertz

Warning:

Dec 17th 2010

Used Hertz new check-in …just ‘sign and go’….great I thought as I had already selected all the options that I wanted.

Clerks deliberately allowed a queue of 12 people to form as a ‘three card trick’ distraction’ and then; “just sign and go Sir” which I did.

My fault, I know for not noticing that the hire cost was, by slight of hand, was increased by over 50%

Added, Fuel Charge [even though tank was less the ¼ full], premium insurance [ I already had my own insurance]

Big Mistake trusting Hertz................

I think you'll find on all the car hire posts on the Tenerife forum that few, if any, of the "big" hire companies get much of a recommendation. Autoreisen, Orcar and Cicar seem to be the favourites.

I had a very satisfactory experience with ORCAR over Xmas. Much the cheapest and the service via the AutoRiesen desk at TFS was first class. No extras, full/full fuel. The car itself was a bit old with 85000km on the clock, and a few scrapes, but I liked that - made it looked like a parked local's car and not a rental!
