You can do excursions to la Gomera or La palma, the others are too far to go in a day.

have a look at tenerife sunshines website, they have details on there.

Hi, you can also fly to the other islands. Tenerife Sunshine is very good, you may like to consider an overnight stay at a reasonable cost.

hello there,

It is very easy to get to La Gomera with several ferries each day from Tenerife.

If you opt for La Palma, then it might be easier to fly, as has been suggested, although there are ferries too. There are around 20 flights a day (from the north airport) and the cost is around the same price as the ferry (or cheaper if you get a deal) and of course far quicker 25 minutes as opposed to 2 hours.

You can stay in the heart of the historic capital of La Palma for as little as 27 euros per room, or alternatively look on a site such as lastminute.com for a good deal on a hotel room.

Once on the island, you can get a taxi tour, rent a car for the day or travel on the frequent and excellent bus service.

I have always found the times of the ferry to La Palma such that it means an overnight stay I think the leaving time from Los Cris is usually 18.30 (a couple of days there is an earlier one like mid-day) and the coming back is 04.00 (or 17.00 on a couple of days). As the crossing takes 4 hours it does not leave any time to see any sights.

The ferry takes around two hours (not four) depending on sea state and wind direction.

It used to take 5 hours when we first came to live on La Palma nine years ago - so this is a vast improvement!

The current timetable with the Fred Olsen ferry (www.fredolsen.es) is that it leaves Los Cristianos at 19.00 and arrives on La Palma at 21.16.

It leaves La Palma at 05.45 and arrives at Los Cristianos at 08.10 hrs.

The reason for these seeminly 'anti-social' hours is that the sea state is generally better during the evening, night and early morning.

But yes, there are other ferry lines and of course flights too. People tend to think that a flight will be way expensive when compared to the ferry, but with lots of deals on tickets (get in there early!) it can be half the price.

Very interesting and informative info Magic1LaPalma ,,,and interesting to understand the reason for the "anti-social" hours sailings ...OH always gets sea sick ! ;-( but if it's only 2 hours that might tempt him ! ;-)

I was surprised that you said the ferry only took 2 hours because it was longer when I used it so on checking it would seem that Armas leaves Los Cristianos at 18.30 and arrives at 22.15 and the return journey was 4.00am and arriving 8.00am however Fred Olsen is as you say but twice the price, so I expect there are pros and cons to everything.

Yes, certainly pros and cons Aguilas!

I suppose it is a rather expensive extra one and a quarter hours in bed ...

Just for people's interest, flights start at around 25 euros for non-residents, Tenerife/la Palma, so certainly worth consideration.
