Adeje To Clamp Down On Timeshare Touts

This could lead to an interesting discussion on here. Read it today in News in the Sun

>>Adeje local council has announced that they are to bring in a new municipal ordinance regulating the sale of Timeshare in tourist areas.

Municipal spokesperson Adolfo Alonso Ferrera told reporters that the new rules, which will be presented in full at the next plenary session of the council, are designed to regulate aggressive and annoying forms of sales and marketing on the streets and in public areas.>>>

It will not make the slightest bit of difference ,these people have been running circles round rules and regulations for years and I predict they will continue to do so, if the authorities cannot regulate the lookie lookies who are mainly illegal immigrants what chance have they got trying to elimenate time share touts, the only way it could work would be to introduce a reward scheme for people who would be prepared to come back to the islands to testify against the touts and get a conviction [maybe a week in the Flamingo suites]

I wonder if this is the start of things being cleaned up. OK they are not the timeshare touts but must have put a big dent in the Looky Looky men's trade.

>>>The National Police have arrested 27 people across Spain and the Canary Islands, in an operation aimed at stemming the flow of counterfeit goods coming from Morocco.

As well as the arrests, the operation resulted in the confiscation of 30,000 fake items of clothing, handbags and accessories, emblazoned with more than 40 well-known brand names.

The investigation began following the discovery of fake goods being sold in Gran Canaria, mostly by Moroccan traders.

The trail led to a sophisticated operation, which moved goods from Morocco to southern Spain and from there to the Canary Islands, where police uncovered a web of storage rooms and warehouses full of counterfeit goods.

Some of the fakes were so good that police had to draft in experts to verify they were not the genuine article.<<<

I can remember when the Blue Marlin restaurant was the last place before La Caleta, and even then the police were deporting bus loads of "undesirables" from the island I can remember one day in particular when we were passing Veronicas on the top road and the police local and guardia were litterally throwing people onto buses and we heard later that 300 were flown out that week alone so I doubt if the present "clampdown" will make much difference. there used to be a thread on an old forum where one member {j a} kept us up to date on the attempted landings by illegals so there will always be a supply of fresh hands to keep "business" going.

And are they doing anything about the Asian stores ripping people off with dodgy cameras/video cameras etc, a practice that has been going on for at least 25 years.

Probably not as the pay rent.

Surely that is up to the silly arses that think they can get a state of the art camera for €10 - don´t know why they don´t buy them in the 50p and £1 in their home towns at least they could then take them back under the guarantee 8))

Agree Aguilas, and would'nt be so bad if it was only 10 Euros, but some silly arses are being ripped off to the tune of up to 1000 Euros.
