Food prices

Hopefully will be self catering in March 2014 in South Tenerife. What are prices like for basic foodstuffs such as 5L water, bread, milk, sliced meats, cheese, butter, 2L soft drinks, fresh meat such as pork chops. Plus how do prices compare with UK for eating out, nothing fancy just a normal everyday breakfast and evening meal.

This should give you some ideas hiperdino.es/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/CTP-… of course you will pay more should you decide to use the spar type shops.

Eating out can be as expensive or as cheap as you like, if you check out the Restaurant page on my blog you will get an idea of the sort of meals and the prices of each.

Hi,

I was in the north for the last 2 weeks, I don't know how the prices compare with the south.

French stick 30 cents

tomatoes 1e to 1.5 kilo

onions 1e kilo

cucumber 39 cents

cheese, salami and ham 1e ( special packets available at most shops)

5l water from our apartment block 1.8e

Uk £5 wine for 2.16e

beer ( tin coke size) 16 cents up to 1e

2l pop similar to UK prices

pizza about 3e in shops but we paid 5 for a takeaway or 6-7 in a bar / restaurant.

We paid 6.9e for the cheapest ( and best) 3 course menu of the day up to 10.5e

Tapas was about 5e a dish

Sardines, potatoes and a glass of wine 7.5e.

Beer 1e cheapest 2.7e dearest we paid in the bars

We did see restaurants charging 15 to 20e for one course so the choice is yours.

Hope this helps a little.

Keith.
