Tenerife Car Hire Advice.

Hey all.

Heading to Tenerife in April next year and we want to rent a car for two weeks.

I'm only 22, or I will be at the time and my other half is 25. We're not bothered about what car it is as long as it has AC.

We just want advice on which companies are best that do young drivers, and what exactly we need with us?

For instance what's an international driving licence? A lot of e companies also want a credit card to but I don't have one. Is there any way around this?

Thanks in advance.

International Driving Permit .......apply in the Post Office ,it lasts one year from date of issue ,cost £5.50 per year. Not sure if its required but very handy to have .

Had a look round at various companies ( a bit bored this morning!) the youngest age i can find on any is 23 ,i think its more to do with the insurance companies requirement that the car hire firms

OLNF is right about the drivers ago but you do not need a International Driving Permit as your driving licence covers all eu countries.

The the best OLNF.

I believe you will need a credit card to pay a deposit, the money does not actually come out of the account but is kind of reserved in case its needed to pay for damage. A credit card is not a bad thing to have so you've got time to sort it before you travel. I also buy an insurance policy that covers the excess on the car-hire insurance for about £35 pa, would cost you less than buying the car hire firm's insurance but I travel several times a year. I use Cicar in Tenerife but am a little older so do not know minimum age requirements. A car is fabulous for getting around the island, in my opinion infinitely better than using the buses but it does depend on what your own plans are.
