Stayed at a Villa rented through Premier Connections in Callao Salvaje (Villa Jamie).
Although I would recommend the town for people looking for a relaxed place to stay away from the hustle of Playas etc., the villa itself was terrible.
The villa part of the Wim-Pen complex (Sueno Azul) is quite old in terms of available villas and in need of some serious repairs before it is up to an acceptable standard.
We arrived and it was like an impenetrable fortress. Gates on all windows and doors. We spent the first 20 minutes trying to figure out which keys were for all the locks.
We arrived during a hailstorm and there was no small fan heater or any other means of heating the villa. We froze for the first day of our holiday.
Pool was filthy on arrival – not cleaned until our third day there.
There are little signs everywhere asking you to only use the economy settings on the dishwasher and washing machine. In other words, don’t cost use too much money in electricity bills.
Many patio tiles were broken and piled up in a corner. The outdoor shower was not usable because the showerhead was so clogged and filled with limescale it trickled down the pole & never went anywhere near the shower tray.
The patio is overlooked by the neighbouring villa as they have wrought iron fencing that they can see right through down to this patio. NO Privacy whatsoever.
The ‘villa with roof terrace’ we had booked turn out to be villa only – as the roof terrace was condemned as unsafe to use.
One of the two patio awnings is broken and can’t be used – this flooded the master bedroom with light when we were trying to sleep.
The “outdoor barbecue” was about 10 years old, rusty and a complete mess. Not a feature!
The “welcome packet” consisted of random laminated sheets under the coffee table that moaned about how renters “ruined their lovely villa”. And a 25 (yes TWENTY FIVE) year old guide book to Tenerife.
No door handle for patio door – you had to slide your hand on the glass or try to prise open with finger. Mismatched cutlery and crockery. And plastic cutlery in the drawer. WTF is that all about???? Also mismatched and stained linens and towels.
I am sure that this villa was truly lovely about 20 years ago. There are some new furnishings but the property and integral fixtures need replacing and it is suffering from general neglect. Metal fixtures in bathroom mostly rusty. Plastic cupholders have been burned by smokers and not replaced. Kitchen fan with a centimetre of grease and dust. So gross.
N. B. this villa is also marketed through James Villas under a different name.
N.B. Many people live at this resort full time so be prepared to be woken by pets in the middle of the night.
Eat at La Romantica - we did twice and loved it.
