El Tope

Hi Folks

We're planning a quick trip back to Puerto in a few weeks. We're thinking about the El Tope this time around; never stayed there before.

Can anybody offer advice regarding rooms? I know that some rooms are below the ground floor level but is it worth requesting a higher floor? We do like to sit on the balcony at night for a few drinks, so we do appreciate a decent view. I don't mind a view of the Avenida.

Speaking for a couple who have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the past few years and who have had several very enjoyable holidays here in the upper rooms with good views:-

- we ended up in the subterranean rooms just once - for two nights until we could upgrade to civilisation

- avoid them

Hi Tommy,

this is one of my usual hotels in PDLC.

The room categories are a bit hard to understand but if you book a standard room with balcony this will be below reception and have an enclosed balcony, avoid these at all cost.

Upgrade to sea or mountain view rooms.

Sea view rooms have the morning sun and are over the front of the hotel, reception and car park.

Mountain view rooms have the afternoon / evening sun.

Superior rooms are the corner rooms and the 1st floor.

Superior mountain view and 2nd floor mountain view rooms have been refurbished and have walk in showers and no bath.

If you book this hotel and when you arrive you are in a green themed room that is the old style awaiting refurbishment. We have never had a problem changing our room from a pre-refurb to a newer one.

Just got back from The Apartments Casablanca (Self Catering) which is next door and I can recommend these as well as the El Tope.
