Info needed

Just booked a holiday in Puerto de la Cruz, for Middle of May, although we will be all inclusive at the Bluesea resort, we are looking at going to see a couple of things outside the area if possible.

What would the best things to go and see, and is it easy to get around via public transport as we will not have a hire car.

All as i have never been to Tenerife, what will the weather be like?

Cheers

Hi, middle of May will be lovely. Mid 20s. The local bus service is very good. You can get to all parts of the island. Buy a BONO discount card for the buses. Oratava is a lovely local town, just 20 minutes away. Mid way is a very good shopping centre, La Villa, with all the Spanish high street stores. The capital Santa Cruz is also worth a visit, great for shopping. Icod is another local town, famous for its tree and lovely central plaza. The bus journey along the coast is well worth it.

Hi Ricky

Thanks for the info, how long would a bus trip to the south of the Island take and what time do the they finish would the last bus come back.

Also is there sea fishing from Puerto de la Cruz, or is the sea fishing done only from the South?

Hi Shaun,

We have been visiting Puerto several times a year for about 10 years and have never needed a car. The bus service is very good and most parts of the island are accessible either directly from Puerto or via the capital, Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is about 40 minutes away and is well worth a visit. A lovely old city-as is nearby La Laguna.

There is a direct service to Los Christianos/Adeje (South of the island) from Puerto. It takes about 90 minutes. You can also get a connection via Santa Cruz.

It is probably best to get a timetable from the TITSA website to plan your trips. They, and Bono tickets, are also available from the bus station. Incidentally, the staff at the information office at the bus station in Puerto speak excellent English and are very helpful. This may seem obvious, but do make sure that you go for information at the info window and buy your tickets from the ticket window! You'd be surprised at the number of people who queue up at the wrong one, only to have to wait again.

Cheers

Thanks Tommy

Great info there.

Do you know if there is Sea fishing from Puerto de la Cruz?

Or is all down from the South of the Island.

All the best.

Hi Shaun

I have never seen fishing trips advertised from Puerto. Most of the sea excursions tend to leave from the South. Check with one of the many ticket agencies in the town, though. Alternatively, try asking one of the fishermen at the old harbour. You never know, they may be happy to take you out for a day.

Cheers

Hi

They had some trouble with their e.mail last year and they changed it to , teapot rus@g.mail.com .

Not sure of the space between teapot and rus .but that is how they wrote it down .

It is at the bottom of the bank , under the tallest building in town , so not to far a walk .
