Toledo in the evening

We will be doing a day tour of Toledo and would like to stay for dinner and then take late train back to Madrid.

Should we concerned about taking a night train to Madrid-- about 20 or 21:00 ? Is there any safety issue? On the train? Getting to train in Toledo/ getting from train in Madrid?

Also, we'd love recommendations for a lovely restaurant for dinner -- something with a beautiful view or very old inside (e.g., like in a castle)-- not too fussy-- more down too earth.and traditional...

THANKSS

no safety concerns at all. 20 or 21 is pre-dinner time anyways, but even later both cities and train stations (and trains) are perfectly safe.

Bondale:

A very good restaurant I tried a week ago was Restaurante Adolfo (Calle Hombre de Palo, 7). Cost is about 50 euros per person. This is a very elegant restaurant and the food is delicious.

Be sure to have train tickets to return to Madrid.

The train is a heavily traveled commuter line and you need tickets going to and getting from Toledo. You do not want to get stuck in Toledo.

There is a taxi stand beside the Alcazar and the taxi to the train station costs 4.50 euros.

Thank you so much.

New question:

We were trying to book dinner reservation for 18:30 or 19:00 --

So far no restaurants seem to be open?

Is the main meal served only through the late afternoon?

If we dine at 16:30 and are done by 18:00 -- are there things to do in Toledo until 21:00? Our train ticket to Madrid is for 21:30!

Thanks for all help!

usual times for STARTING having dinner is 21-22, so 16 - 19 is way too early. Usually in big cities like Madrid you will have no problems because there are restaurants catering tourists and restaurants with non-stop kitchens, but in smaller towns like Toledo this could be a problem. Best chance if you want to eat in a restaurant is to eat lunch (around 15:30 till 17:00 is perfectly fine) and then have some tapas later in the evening like at 20 or so? Walking around Toledo, enjoying a square or a small street, taking a glass of wine and seeing the world go by are things to be done in Toledo any time day or night. Also, shops are open daily (not on Sundays) till 9pm or so.
