Struggling to exchange £ to € can any1 tell me where near catalonia born hotel does please
Don't take cash. Withdraw Euro from ATM. It is safer and a better rate.
Get a few Euro from a bank in the UK to get you started.Edited: 18 October 2017, 01:08
Whilst the above advice is sound I'm guessing from the wording that the OP is there now and therefore doesn't have that option.
Bureaux de Change are almost a thing of the past and are a very expensive way to get local currency, but Google gives several results in central Barcelona. Rafer Change, 13, Carrer de la Princesa is probably the closest. The rate will probably be horrible.
Good idea to check commission costs before agreeing to the exchange. Many people just pay with credit or debit cards - much more than in the past.
Managed to change it in centrobank but awful rate basically €1 - £1
physical money is getting close to extinction. In the future, use cards augmented with the occasional ATM withdrawal.
Probably a slightly better rate than you would have got at the airport, considerably worse that you might have got at Tesco. Definitely look at using cards if you're travelling abroad in the future. So much easier and much better rates, especially for direct purchases. If your own bank is not good for currency transactions, consider getting a pre-loaded card such as Caxton FX.
