It depends on if you want only to visit the most important places or you prefer taking a relaxed stroll. For the relaxed option count around hour and a half.

We went in December lst year and spent best part of aftrenoon (and this was when the weather was somewhat cooler). To get the best of touring the park itself, visiting the house (museum) and sitting and absorbing the atmosphere (during yhe wramer months), I'd give it a full half day. Don't miss the walk up to the highest point which gives a wonderful view over Barcelona. Please also note that if you take the metro, one of the stations involves a considerable walk then a climb up to the park entrance (although I have to admit that there are escalators which were being refurbished when we visited). Enjoy

We rode the metro to Vallcarca and then took the escalators up the very steep hill, entering the park at the top. The views are great - then we strolled down the winding paths to the main attractions which are all at the bottom. The only drawback was that we seemed to be coming on the best bits from the wrong side, so kept having to look back on ourselves to see things properly. Might have been better to get off at the previous stop, Lesseps, and enter the park at the bottom - although then we'd have had an uphill walk to get to the viewpoint. If you want to see the view it's worth doing - you can see Sagrada Familia and all the way to the sea, Montjuic and Port Olimpic - but there's nothing else to see up there.
