getting to Montserrat ?

What kind of train (direction, name?) and from what station do I take?

I know that i need FGC train but i am not sure what line or what station to take it from. Also how long is the ride on FGC to Montserrat?

Thank you for your help.

Also, it says that only designated trains stop on either stop. How do i know it's a designated train?

Donchik, you'll probably get some info from this forum but I realized only recently (after our visit to Montserrat) that there is actually a separate TA forum for Montserrat.

The Montserrat forum is not heavily used, so probably better off on this one. That said, I suspect that the answers provided here will give you what you need.

It's very easy to get from Barcelona to Montserrat by train. Go as early in the day as you can manage to maximise your time there, especially if you think you might walk some of the trails (IMO the best reason for going).

Espanya station. Trains leave at 36 minutes past the hour, 1 an hour. It's an actual train, not the metro trains. It takes about an hour, when you purchase your ticket you need to indicate whether you'll take the track train or cable car up, there are 2 different stops from the train. Cable car is first. I think the actual train was track 5 to get there. there are special info booths to help you in the train station. Trains back to Barcelona run every hour. It's about 15 minutes for the track train to get up to Montserrat. Cafeteria on site was just that, cafeteria food. There's also a small bar with some fast food. Definately consider packing a lunch, it's such a beautiful place.
